This means that TurfTV customers who have relied in the past solely on SIS for the receipt of data into their LBOs will now be able to receive additional TurfTV data from Alphameric, which will eliminate the operational problems which those customers have experienced since the full launch of TurfTV in January 2008.
The new Alphameric services are detailed below:
Hosted Service
The first service is targeted at Alphameric’s hosted customers who currently pay for a Raw Data Feed (RDF) licence from SIS to integrate their RDF with TurfTV race day data at their hosted site. By using the new service, these customers will now be able to have the combined feed distributed via an Alphameric high-speed satellite network directly to their LBOs. When it is received at their LBOs the data will be interpreted by their Alphameric systems as necessary. This solution is analogous to the data distribution networks currently used by William Hill, Ladbrokes and other major high-street bookmakers.
Bureau Service
The second service is targeted at Alphameric’s bureau customers who currently rely on a shared Raw Data Feed purchased under a contract with SIS and delivered by SIS to Alphameric at the customer’s request to enable Alphameric, as the customer’s sub-contractor, to process the RDF in the Alphameric bureau service. In this situation Alphameric takes the RDF as an input data feed to its bureau service and returns the processed output data to SIS for distribution to LBOs via the SIS satellite network. No changes to this process are allowed by SIS or proposed by Alphameric. However, to enable Alphameric’s bureau customers to receive TurfTV data, Alphameric will broadcast TurfTV data to LBOs via its new high-speed satellite network and, once that data is received at the LBO, Alphameric systems will operate by selecting data from either the SIS delivered data or the Alphameric delivered data streams as appropriate.
The demand for consolidated data incorporating both SIS and TurfTV data is great and Alphameric will be contacting its hosted and bureau customers imminently to schedule upgrades to LBO infrastructure to enable the new service to operate.
