Amalgamated racing agrees Ascot deal

Amalgamated Racing (AMRAC) announced today that Ascot’s Licensed Betting Office (LBO) pictures will now be broadcast on the AMRAC channel rather than on Satellite Information Services (SiS) exclusively from April.

Ascot’s LBO pictures will therefore now join the 30 other racecourses already involved in the AMRAC venture, adding not only the quality of their races but also value to bookmakers who sign up to the service. The pricing for AMRAC will remain as advertised, despite the addition of pictures from the world’s most famous racecourse: £100 per month for the rest of 2007 and the full service in 2008 at a flat annual fee of £6,500.

Janet Walker, Acting Chief Executive of Ascot said: “We’re delighted to have agreed terms with AMRAC, which we believe is the best vehicle for racing’s commercial relationship with the betting industry.

“This decision has no impact on our separate satellite media rights arrangement with At The Races and should in no way be interpreted as a negative reflection on our relationship with that company.”

Alan Morcombe, Executive Chairman of AMRAC, said: “It goes without saying that adding Ascot’s fixtures to the 615 meetings we already have each year is a fantastic boost to the product. Our decision to keep the costs the same also helps to highlight our dedication to offering bookmakers the best value possible and cements our product as a ‘must-have’ TV channel for any quality bookmaker.”
