Turf TV signs exclusive evening racing from Kempton Park

KEMPTON'S floodlit evening Flat meetings will be shown exclusively on Turf TV from September 1 when opening hours are extended under the new Gambling Act.

Britain's newest all-weather night-time venue will not be covered by bookmakers who have not signed up with Turf TV, after Bags, which sub-contracts exclusively to SIS, decided not to seek a short-term deal with Kempton owner Jockey Club Racecourses.

Kempton's daytime racing will continue to be covered by SIS under an existing contract that ends on December 31, when 25 courses aligned to Racing UK will join six tracks – five with RUK and Ascot – that already figure in an exclusive betting-shop arrangement with Turf TV.
Kempton has 19 floodlit evening fixtures between September 5 and December 19, which were taken on after encouragement from bookmakers anxious to provide horseracing content when all-year-round extended opening becomes a reality.

Alan Morcombe, Executive Chairman of AMRAC, said: “This is another example of TurfTV doing what is right for its customers whilst BAGS continues to wage war on a newcomer to the marketplace that is trying to create a competitive environment that will benefit the industry, it’s old style trade union behaviour from management that are experienced in that department. I’m very pleased our customers will be able to show great floodlit racing and I hope punters will show their appreciation by supporting these bookmakers in the Autumn”
